Purposely Living A Fuller Life

(a personal photo taken by yours truly....tell me this doesn't make you believe in the beauty of the world)

I do several daily devotionals and today's challenged me to spend more time with God. While I feel very confident in my relationship with Him I had never questioned how much time I devote to my faith, or to having conversation with God specifically.

Now, I'm not getting crazy on you, don't sum this up as a Christain throwing religion or God in your face. I have a valuable point I promise...regardless of your beliefs.

This challenge really hit a chord with me. I haven't found a church that I feel comfortable in yet, but have my own routines and dedicated time to stay connected. However, the time that I have in life all of a sudden didn't feel well spent.

What am I doing when I'm not working? I watch tv, I sleep, I read, I spend time with those I love, I clean, use social media, play games, worry, pay bills, etc. What could I be doing? I could join a small group, exercise more, volunteer, have more family time, read something important, educate myself, meditate, or pray, I mean the list is endless. When are we ever LIVING in our lives?

I don't want to be the person that only talks to God when I need something. You know those "please God please" moments. No relationship is a take take take one, well, no good one. And this relationship is one of my most important. To whomever or whatever you pray, or if no one or nothing, at least take the time to appreciate the life you have....have thankful time.

Sitting here thinking that I live my life fully and in the name of good, I have realized that I've only been getting by doing the minimum. I live in auto pilot, my first priority is work because I think paying for life is at the top of the list. I want to live first, work second....you know?

It was a good message to receive, and at a good time. We're all so busy doing nothing that we miss out on the moments that really shape our lives, and it's in those moments that we find ourselves and connect spiritually, and it's only after we find ourselves spiritually that we finally feel at ease and comfortable in our lives.

If you're a person that doesn't believe in God or any higher being I challenge you. Read The Secret by Rhonda Bryne, heck watch it on Netflix or YouTube. I believe that we all just have a different name for it, you may only call it science. You can't tell me that when you stub your toe any moment after that seems to be negative and challenging....it's not a coincidence, watch the movie.

Whatever you believe at least take the time to mediate on the things that you're thankful for, the things that you wish to achieve in life, and the things that you cannot change but need strength for. Meditating can simply be turning off the radio when you drive and actually hearing your own thoughts. Think about it...how much quiet time do you get? I'm not talking about quiet with your phone or quite on the computer, I'm talking quiet thinking time.

Take the time to be quiet and know yourself on another level that is more personal. And take the time to put good out into the world purposely. Live a fuller life of hope and wake up everyday ready to give back to the world.

I promise you'll find that an emptiness that you may not have even felt and it will be filled.
